Indie productions have something to say to be ambitious. If you are going to do this, why not go further and become a point of failure? There is also something to say to understand limitations.
Forest of the Vampire was definitely thrilling and successful at some of the angles, but failed in other ways by overextending it. It was interesting that the movie press “found that the vampire forest fills the classic gothic fears of Hammer’s Dracula films with survival terror”, such as The Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, because I saw certain effects, but not necessarily.
