Sometimes you’re lucky at a film festival. All the films seen on this Tribeca screening are valuable and the best, frankly, excellent. It does not always happen that way. So I made a proposal for an efficient and provocative imaging week for the film gods.
The French documentary Junction 48 director Stephanie Gillard’s The Ride is a spectacular, impressionistic film of the annual climb of horsebacks by the Lakota Sioux Indians, many of whose ancestors remember the 300-mile walk that massacred in the Wounded where the ancestral Bullish camp was.
